Typica Mejorado is one of Ecuador’s most distinctive coffee varieties, known for its clarity, sweetness, and balance. Its genetic roots trace back to a Nestlé variety garden, where classic Bourbon crossed with Ethiopian influence to create something quietly special.
At Hacienda La Papaya, producer Juan Peña has spent years refining this variety through careful farming and close attention to detail. Grown between 1,800 and 2,200 meters, the cherries ripen slowly under steady equatorial light and cool Andean nights.
This lot is fully washed with a 15-hour controlled fermentation, then dried slowly in solar rooms with sensor monitoring.
The result is a clean, composed cup with notes of honey, citrus, red apple, caramel, and soft florals, finished with a silky texture and bright acidity.
